This new service is available to citizens of all 62 member states of the European Union as well as Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan and the United States. Previously, Irish citizens had to apply for visas at a New Zealand embassy or consulate. The new system makes visa applications easier and faster for Irish citizens by allowing them to do so from their home country.
How to Apply for a New Zealand Visa
If you are a citizen of Ireland, and are looking to travel to New Zealand, you may be eligible to apply for a visa online. The visa application process can be completed in just a few easy steps.
First, you will need to gather your required documents. This includes your passport photo, a copy of your Irish passport, and your visa application form.
Next, visit the website of the New Zealand Embassy or High Commission in Dublin. You will need to provide your full name as it appears on your Irish passport, as well as the date of birth (as entered on your passport). The requirements for a New Zealand visa are the same as for any other Schengen country. That is, you will need a valid passport, proof of travel insurance, and a return or onward ticket. You will also need an application fee (currently NZ$100), and your fingerprints will be taken.
If you are applying for a working visa, you will also need to provide evidence that you have the necessary skills and experience. If you are applying for a student visa, you will need to provide evidence that you are enrolled in an approved course of study.
