How to get an Indian eVisa

If you are traveling to India for tourism, business or medical purposes and you do not hold a valid passport from any of the countries in the European Union (EU), you will need to apply for an Indian eVisa. The visa application process can be a little confusing, but following these simple steps will ensure that your stay in India is as smooth as possible.

Before You Go:

– Make sure you have all of the required documentation ready before you start the visa application process. This includes your passport photo, visa application form, proof of onward travel and enough funds to cover your costs while in India. Some consulates may require additional documents, so be sure to check with them before starting the application process.

– Apply at least 90 days prior to your desired trip date. This gives enough time for the consulate to process your application and send you the visa paperwork. Keep in mind that processing times may vary depending on the consulate, so it is always best to check with them before making a trip there.

When You Get There:

– After applying for your visa, make a appointment with one of the many Indian eVisa ports allowed for exit – these are usually located near major airports or seaports. When you arrive at one of these facilities, bring everything that you received when applying for your visa (including your passport photo). You will then have to go through a security checkpoint and submit your fingerprints and other personal information. Indian eVisa ports allowed for exit

An Indian visa can be obtained from an embassy or consulate in your home country. For example, the United States Embassy in India is located in New Delhi. You will need to provide documents proving your identity, such as a passport, driver’s license, or national ID card. In addition, you will need to provide contact information for two friends or family members who can vouch for your travel plans. If you are traveling to Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh (a disputed region between China and India), or Nagaland (another disputed region between India and China), you will also need a permit from the respective governments.

Once you have obtained all of the necessary documentation, make your way to the airport or seaport where you will be boarding your flight or vessel. You will need to show your passport and visa to the immigration officer. Depending on which port you are entering, you may also be required to show proof of purchase of an air ticket or boat ticket before proceeding through customs. Once through customs and out into the world, remember that Indians enjoy a very relaxed visa policy; so even if you don’t have an actual visa stamped in your passport, just being in possession of one should be enough to get by most places.
